SHOCKING MOMENT: Travis Kelce Dancing to Taylor Swift Songs and More Shocking Moments You Missed at the 2024 ACC Tournament!
Over the past week, from July 10 to July 14, celebrities and pro athletes (past and present) alike took over scenic South Lake Tahoe, Nev. for an annual celebrity golf tournament.
And while much of the action of the American Century Championship presented by American Century Investments played out on TV, there was so much more happening behind the scenes on the course at Edgewood Lake Tahoe.
Wednesday, July 10 marked the first day of practice for those competing in the tournament. Alex Rodriguez, Bobby Flay, Dylan Dreyer, Aaron Rodgers, Jake Owen, Chris Harrison and Rob Riggle were among those who hit the course. Before teeing off, Riggle spent time on the driving range with his girlfriend, pro golfer Kasia Kay.
While play commenced, Jason Kelce warmed up at the driving range for the days ahead.
The second and final day of practice was on Thursday, July 11. Kelce hit the course, along with Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Blake Griffin and former pro basketball player Chandler Parsons.
During the “Beat the Bot” charity challenge, Rodgers, 40, donated $5,000 to Stowers Institute, a world-class biomedical research organization dedicated to defeating life-threatening diseases.
When the tournament officially kicked off on Friday, July 12, Travis Kelce made his first public appearance at the tournament, joining brother Jason, 36, and pro wrestler Mike “The Miz” Mizanin at 9:42 a.m. to tee off. (Prior to hitting the links, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 34, won a karaoke competition at a party for the golfers that took place the night before and gave his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, a sweet shout out during the event.)
When Jason hit the course, he was introduced as a “hungry dog who happened to play marathon saxophone in Cleveland.”
While making their way through the course, the Miz, 43, could be heard joking with Jason about how he said during a recent episode of the Kelce brothers’ podcast, New Heights, that he refused to bring chapstick to the golf tournament despite the dry air. Still, Jason maintained that “water” would be enough to take care of his lips throughout the weekend.
At the fourth hole, Travis could be heard telling Jason “let’s go big dog” before he swung. At one point, when a fan called out to Travis, asking to give him a friendship bracelet (a signature of Swifties), the NFL star told them he was “just hanging right now, trying to play some golf.”
Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce, accepted several friendship bracelets from fans throughout the day. She spent much of her time on the course watching Jason play golf — they even shared a kiss at the bar situated at one of the holes — and hanging with former NFL pro Andrew Whitworth young sons. Whitworth sons joked that they were Kylie’s bodyguards for the day.
Throughout the day, Kylie, 31, stopped whenever a fan requested a photo with her. At one point, she spilled a mom’s coffee while holding her baby — but then went and bought her a beer to make up for it.
Jason had his own moment with a baby in the crowd, taking the opportunity to sign a little boy’s shirt as his father held him up to the retired Eagles player.
When one man, who appeared to be holding a green New Heights hat, asked Kylie to sign his accessory, she humbly said, “You’ve got to get [Jason and Travis] to sign it.”
On Friday and throughout the weekend, Travis’ best friend, Ross Travis, watched him play golf. On Friday he even sported a hat for the new Ryan Murphy FX series Grotesquerie, which Travis is set to appear in. Kylie said she was just staying the night at the tournament so that she could get back to her and Jason’s three girls.
Travis also connected with pal Miles Teller on the course, and the two did a fist bump. Around the same time, Teller’s wife, Keleigh Sperry, said hi to Kylie.
At the 17th hole, where there was a DJ, Travis danced to Swift’s “Lavender Haze.”
Elsewhere on the course, Lawrence’s pregnant wife, Marissa, could be seen cheering her husband on. Before teeing off the first hole, Jack Wagner made sure to run over to his son, Peter, to give him a hug.
Former NFL pro Tim Brown also got a hole-in-one on hole No. 12 at the ACC golf tournament, making him the winner of MasterCraft’s 2024 X24, valued at $200,000.
At the end of day one, Travis, Jason, Kylie and Ross were all seen at the casino at nearby Harrah’s.
On Saturday morning, former NFL pro Jim McMahon took off his visor with fake, spiky blond hair to show off his bald head to the crowd, garnering a lot of laughs. After teeing off, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen gave a golf ball to a young fan in the crowd.
For the second day of the competition, Travis and Jason were grouped to golf with Whitworth, whose family joined him on the sidelines for the day. Travis and Jason’s father, Ed Kelce, also watched them from a golf cart.
For the day, the Kelce brothers brought along their own Garage Beer packed in a cooler. When one fan asked what kind of beer they were drinking, Jason responded, “Garage Beer, baby!”
At the 17th hole, the DJ played Swift’s “Cruel Summer” as Travis arrived. He made a crying motion with his hands as the lyrics, “Cried like a baby coming home from the bar,” played. He also bopped his head as he prepared to take his next swing.
He later also sang lyrics to “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” from Swift’s latest LP, The Tortured Poets Department, and held up an air mic for Jason to sing.
On Sunday, July 14, the final day of the tournament, play was delayed a bit due to rain. Right before Alfonso Ribeiro teed off on the first hole, the DJ played his 1986 song, “Time Bomb,” which he told the crowd he recorded when he was 13. Rodgers, who was in Ribeiro’s group, picked him up in front of the crowd.
At one point during the day, The Boys star Chace Crawford was seen cheering on his brother-in-law, Tony Romo, who is is married to the actor’s sister, Candice, from the sidelines of the 16th hole. Crawford, 38, ducked as people yelled “fore!”
In the afternoon, Travis caught up with Ribeiro, 52, at the 16th hole. A fan yelled out for them to do the Carlton Dance, and then the crowd broke out singing Whitesnake’s 1982 hit, “Here I Go Again,” the song Travis won the karaoke competition with. Travis told the crowd he missed the entire first verse so he had to “sell it” during his performance.
Around the same time, a fan with a beard called out to Jason to compliment him on his own beard. The fan told Jason he’d be playing Santa Claus soon, and Jason laughed and said he’s been “praying” for that.
At the 17th hole, Travis danced to Swift’s “Down Bad” and “Shake It Off.”
- In the end, former tennis pro Mardy Fish took home the win, his second trophy from the tournament. To celebrate, he jumped into the nearby lake.
