2024 promises to be an important year for KC. Either it will go down in NFL history as the first team to achieve the three-peat, or it will be a wound in the organisation’s history.

But before the season starts, what matters is that the squad has its head on straight and is motivated to go for a third title.

Together with the new pieces coming into the Chiefs, both via the Draft and free agency, it’s time to take advantage of practice to get in tune for September

As soon as he secured his back-to-back Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers, Patrick Mahomes made no secret of his instant ambition to make history.

The Kansas City legend has been saying for a long time that this year they’ll be champions again and seal the first NFL dynasty since the Tom Brady era.

Journalist Jeff Darlington, on ESPN’s Get Up show, recalled the last SB. He mentioned that he spoke to Mahomes on the pitch and that the quarterback was already obsessed with his third ring without even having received his second.

“I did talk to Patrick Mahomes moments after the Super Bowl on the field, like literally, he’s still sweating from the game and he’s already talking about the idea of a three-peat,” said. “Like he wasn’t even willing to bask in the repeat before he was thinking about something that has never been done in the NFL. And that’s where Mahomes is at in his career. That’s where his mentality is.”

Darligton then said that what is at stake for the Chiefs is something collective and historic. And not merely Mahomes trying to reach or overtake Brady’s position as the Goat.

The signal-caller isn’t even thinking about that, but rather bringing home an achievement that has never been done before.

“I don’t think it’s necessarily about right now trying to get to seven Super Bowls to eclipse Tom Brady by getting to a, which may be on the road he will have his eyes on. But right now it’s about doing things that nobody else has ever done and no team has ever won three in a row,” added.

The reporter hinted that he is a little worried about the Chiefs being able to win the three-peat. Darlington even brought up the historical record of franchises that have had this opportunity and not secured it.

“To give you some understanding of how difficult it is: eight teams have gone back to back. None of those eight teams even returned to the Super Bowl in that third year and three of those eight teams did not even make the playoffs.”

This is a very difficult task, but one perhaps that Patrick Holmes is capable of accomplishing,” noted
