“Patrick Mahomes Sends a Challenge to Chiefs Wide Receiver Ahead of Season: ‘Be Prepared'”
Kansas City Chiefs were the only team in the league not to hold a training session with another franchises
The quest for a third consecutive Super Bowl ring is stronger than ever and now the holidays are over, so in a way the 2024 season starts on Friday, with the start of training camp.
Players who were recovering from injury have strengthened for this point in the off-season.
It’s possible and probable that this season Chiefs Kingdom will once again see Patrick Mahomes throwing long balls downfield, recovering this important feature of his style of play.
Those responsible for this probable comeback are Hollywood Brown, a veteran who has arrived in Kansas City to prove himself once and for all after failing to make a name for himself as expected in other teams, and Xavier Worthy, the speedy jewel that the franchise drafted this year.
The rookie wide receiver broke the 40 yard-dash record at the Combine and has the potential to become offensive rookie of the year.
He did, however, suffer a hamstring injury at rookie minicamp and had to sit out mandatory workouts to recover.
The pass-catcher is ready for TC, which will start later this week, and has already reported to the team.
This past Tuesday, Mahomes reported to the Missouri Western campus and spoke at a press conference about what Worthy will now face during training camp because he has been unable to train on other occasions.
“There’s no easing. He’s going to have to be ready to go. There’s a lot of competition. Xavier got a lot of mental work in these last few weeks he had during OTAs and minicamp, but it’s time to go now.”
Chiefs’ QB even mentioned Rashee Rice’s process last season to gauge the pressure Xavier Worthy is about to face.
“Y’all saw Rashee (Rice) last year and the ‘throwing up days’ he had. We’re going to push you to the limit to get yourself ready to go for the season. That’s not just him. That’s everybody.”
This is the mentality of the team’s greatest leader.
