Taylor Swift’s big Super Bowl cameo will always be one of the biggest moments in her relationship with Travis Kelce, but in a new clip from Netflix’s Receiver, the superstar football player explains that having his girlfriend soak up the sights and sounds at the big game didn’t come cheap. Speaking to San Fransisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, Kelce shared that the suites at Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium were going for a pretty penny, though he didn’t actually say whether or not he actually shelled out the cash to have Swift and his pals sitting in the VIP suite.
“They’re fucking three million dollars,” Kelce told Kittle after he asked whether or not the Chiefs player would be hosting his family and friends at the Super Bowl. In the clip, Kittle explained that he didn’t end up paying for his family to sit in a suite. According to On Location Experiences, suites started at $3 million when the Kansas City Chiefs qualified, but got even more expensive as the Super Bowl drew closer.
“It’s just like, ‘You guys are gonna be fine,’” Kittle said. Page Six notes that Christian McCaffrey, Kittle’s teammate, did pay up—though he got a “good deal” for his now-wife Olivia Culpo.
Swift enjoyed the Chiefs’s victory alongside her pal Blake Lively as well as Kelce’s mother, Donna, his brother Jason Kelce and wife Kylie, Lana Del Rey, Miles and Keleigh Teller, and Ice Spice. During an episode of his podcast, “New Heights,” Travis spoke about how expensive it would be to have all of his friends and family at the game.
“I’m not really doing much different other than just counting how much money I’m spending on this damn Super Bowl for family and friends to come,” he said at the time, not confirming or denying that he paid the $3 million.
Page Six notes that Kelce is expected to rake in $34.25 million over the next two years and that he’s earned more than $75 million so far thanks to football and things like his podcast and brand deals with Pfizer, Dick’s Sporting Goods, McDonald’s, State Farm, and Papa John’s.
