Chris Packham slams Taylor Swift as he urges her to make major change ahead of London tour
Chris Packham has called on Taylor Swift to make a major change ahead of her UK tour.
The presenter has called for the pop superstar to meet him whilst she’s in the UK for her sold out The Eras Tour. Taylor uses her private jet to get between her tour dates across the world – but Chris Packham says she needs to make a change.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain today, he said: “I’ve asked her to think about the future of all of her young fans. She has an enormous capacity to communicate; a very powerful, intelligent young woman. She should be using that platform to be – and certainly not behaving as a rock star of yesteryear travelling around the world in a private jet.
“I think that she’s got to show that legion of adoring young fans that she cares about their future. Maybe one day, I don’t know, Taylor might want children of her own. I’m sure that she wants a healthy planet for them to live on. And to do that we’ve got to change the way we use our fossil fuels. She could send a very symbolic gesture to millions of people by stopping using her private jet.”
He admitted Taylor hasn’t returned his messages – but he hopes she will still be in touch ahead of a big rally this weekend.
“I have opened up the opportunity to send a video message, which we could play at a rally on Saturday or perhaps 50-60-70,000 people who would instantly become Taylor Swift fans, even though they may be over 15,” he added.
Chris Packham invited Taylor Swift to come and meet him at the RestoreNatureNow rally. During a chat with The Mirror, he also asked Taylor Swift fans to turn up to her gigs carrying banners protesting the user of her private jet. He asked: “Is that what it’s going to take? Because then I would urge all of the sixteen-year-olds to draw those banners and take them with you.”
Taylor owns a Dassault Falcon 7X, which is worth £42million. Her publicist said that the singer has bought “double the amount” of carbon offsets – as she continues to travel across the globe in her private jet.
