FEDERAL APPEALS COURT UNANIMOUSLY UPHOLDS TRUMP ADMIN’S PLANNED PARENTHOOD FUNDING FREEZE

Three Biden-appointed judges just handed Trump a major win.

A federal appeals court ruled unanimously Friday that the Trump administration can continue withholding Medicaid reimbursements from Planned Parenthood as mandated by the tax bill signed in July.

The provision stops Medicaid payments to abortion providers that received more than $800,000 in reimbursements in 2024.

Planned Parenthood sued, claiming it was deliberately singled out.

Judge Gustavo Gelpí, a Biden appointee, wrote that Congress has broad discretion to restrict federal spending and the law “does not amount to illegal punishment.”

He noted Planned Parenthood could comply by “halting abortion services.”

Planned Parenthood President Alexis McGill Johnson:

“They want to shut down Planned Parenthood health centers.”

Federal funds were already prohibited from paying for abortions.
