Hollywood Brown recently shared some exciting insights about Patrick Mahomes’ performance in training camp,
The Kansas City Chiefs probably made one of the best signings in the NFL in 2024. This particular move changed the course of the offseason and possibly the way everyone was envisioning how the team would achieve the three-peat.
We’re talking about Hollywood Brown, the veteran and super-fast wide receiver. Entering his sixth year in the league, the pass-catching receiver hasn’t achieved what he could have.
.He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2019 and last year went to the Arizona Cardinals, but didn’t stand out with the team.
Chiefs’ efforts to sign him have the potential to be one of the best things that has ever happened to Brown’s career, especially in such an important year for the franchise.
Even though he hasn’t established himself as he should have in the two teams he’s played for, coming to KC with all the hype he’s getting and already knowing he’ll be a starter shows that Hollywood has talent that needs to be put to good use.
When the WR and the organisation closed the deal, social media went into overdrive. Everyone was talking about how the Chiefs would be unbeatable this season with their new acquisition.
What’s more, many of the team’s players, especially Patrick Mahomes, went crazy the moment the announcement was made official.
From then on, Brown quickly fell into favour and became part of the group.
As it was still the ‘holiday’ period, he was able to hang out with his teammates outside the team’s facilities and make himself known.
Every year, Pat Mahomes holds a camp of his own in which he invites his colleagues to work out with him and experience a different routine to the one he has with the KC coaches.
Brown was invited by the QB to take part in the camp. He also attended an NBA playoff game with Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
Already going through training camp, Hollywood Brown spoke to the media recently and talked about the process of transitioning to a new team.
He mentioned that having socialised with the team and creating a bound with Mahomes before arriving at the facilities helped a lot.
“I think it started way back in offseason. It made it a lot easier for me coming to the team; he (Mahomes) had me on the same page [of] a lot of things.”
The wide receiver set himself a goal that he would settle in quickly.
“I mean, it’s my job [to] really just come in and show the guys that if I could come in, and I could be on top of things, and I just got here; it pushes everyone else to be better, and it raised the competition in the room.”
Hollywood is very confident for the season and sees that the depth of pass-catchers has really improved: “I’m excited! God willing, we all stay healthy, and we just keep building, keep pushing each other.”
We got the guys to do it,” noted. “Coach (Andy Reid) is putting us in a great position to do it, and Pat puts it on the money every time, so we’ve been lighting it up, and it’s been fun.”
He seems very motivated and happy with what he’s experiencing in KC so far: “I think the sky’s the limit [on] what we could do.”
Kansas City’s offensive coordinator, Matty Nagy, believes that Brown’s experience in the NFL will be fundamental in dealing with the locker room.
You can feel his veteran leadership,” he said after the first training camp session. “He’s kept his play speed, when he runs routes downfield, being able to track the football with Patrick, but then also not make the same mistake twice, he’s really in good mental shape, physical shape – all of that right now.”
Nagy is happy with the veteran’s progress so far and that everyone’s “really looking forward to getting him going”.
For a year as important as 2024, the presence of Hollywood can bring to Chiefs fans what it’s like to see Patrick Mahomes throwing deep and a fast, explosive offense.
it hadn’t been for the great performance of the Kansas City Chiefs defense, the course of the 2023 season could have been completely different, and possibly disastrous.
And a big part of good defensive work comes from the defense.
L’Jarius Sneed has taken over the unit and contributes to the consistency and efficiency of all the other cornerbacks in the squad.
The trio of Trent McDuffie, Joshua Williams and Jaylen Watson put on a show last year and have everything to follow suit in 2024.
Little did they know that last season was the final one in which they would be able to absorb as much of Sneed’s knowledge as possible.
