In an unexpected twist of fate, Jason Kelce has divulged the jaw-dropping moment he discovered his brother Travis was dating the iconic Taylor Swift.
The romantic relationship between Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and 14-time Grammy-winning artist Taylor Swift continues to attract global attention. Kelce’s brother, Jason, a former NFL center for the Philadelphia Eagles, recently shared how he found out about the couple’s relationship. During last season, the Kansas City Chiefs, led by head coach Andy Reid, were frequently in the media spotlight as they made a run for their third Super Bowl win in the last four years. The attention wasn’t just due to their on-field success but also because Taylor Swift attended 13 of their games.
Swift would sit in a suite to watch her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and every so often, the broadcasting camera would catch a shot of her for the game’s viewers. Now, with the 2024 NFL season approaching, it’s been almost a year since Travis Kelce and Swift confirmed their relationship to the public.
On a recent episode of ‘The Pivot Podcast,’ Jason Kelce revealed that he had an idea his brother was dating one of the world’s most famous singers. “There was a lead-up to it ’cause there was the whole thing on the Pod (Podcast) about him trying to get a friendship bracelet to her, so I knew that there was something,” Jason Kelce said. He would then explain that his brother was cautious when breaking the news to him. Due to Swift’s large following, Travis Kelce didn’t want anything to be taken out of context.
“I think he was very cautious about even telling me or anybody because, I mean, the reality is she is under such a microscope that, you know, I think that they wanted to make sure everything was done in a way that, you know was respectful to people’s privacy and I think they’re still trying to do that,” he added. Jason Kelce is a seven-time pro bowler and a Super Bowl champion. After retiring at the end of the 2023 season, he now has more time to spend with friends and family. On top of that, he even has more time to do podcasts to share how he feels about the relationship. “And like, even now, like, I want to be respectful of them, and I don’t want anybody to feel like there’s like a perceived, like, I’m violating some type of private relationship,” Jason Kelce added. “It’s really not my place to speak on the relationship, but he is my brother, and I’m very happy for him. And you know, you just have to be conscious of how you’re saying things because it is under such a microscope
Travis Kelce is a three-time Super Bowl champion and arguably the best tight end in NFL history. In his 11-year career, he’s racked up 907 receptions, 11,328 yards, and 74 touchdowns. Taylor Swift has received numerous awards for her work as a singer and songwriter, including 14 Grammys, 40 American Music Awards, and 39 Billboard Music Awards. She has an average of around 95 million listeners every month across various genres, such as pop, rock, alternative, country, and folk. While it’s unclear which Kansas City games Taylor Swift will attend in the 2024 NFL season, Travis Kelce and the Chiefs will kick off their season against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, September 3, at 8:20 p.m.
