Just In: Germany’s latest attempt to immortalize Taylor Swift in wax has left Swifties feeling anything but enchanted
Swifties are down bad cryin’ at the gym over a questionable new Taylor Swift wax figure that popped up in Germany this week.
The figure debuted Tuesday at the Panoptikum in Hamburg, which hails itself as Germany’s oldest and largest wax museum. The (un)likeness features Swift in a sequined romper similar to the one she wore at the 2019 iHeart Radio Music Awards, albeit with different shoes and her hair down.
Fans took issue with the figure’s resemblance to Swift immediately, swarming the museum’s Instagram post to share their brutally honest thoughts. “Darling, it’s a daydream dressed like a nightmare,” someone wrote, referencing the inverse of Swift’s famous lyric from the 1989 track “Blank Space,” in which she sings “cuz darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream.”
What is that ? sry, but that’s embarrassing!” someone else wrote, with another adding, “Completely unrealistic someone did a terrible job.”
Several fans pointed out that the wax figure, which is making a heart with its hands — a classic Swift move — is incorrect. The pop star always uses both of her full hands for the gesture, while the wax version is only using its index fingers and thumbs to do so.
The wax Swift is in good company at the Panoptikum, though. Other famous waxworks at the museum include Queen Elizabeth II, Angelina Jolie, and Swift’s good friend Ed Sheeran.
