“Lane Johnson Unveils Unexpected Insights on Jason Kelce’s Retirement
Despite officially retiring from the NFL this offseason, legendary Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce is still hanging around the team.
According to one former teammate, Eagles tackle Lane Johnson, Kelce has spent more time in the team facility this offseason than many of their current players.
“He was in the building maybe more than a lot of players this offseason. … He was in there lifting. … He has a locker in the coach’s locker room,” Johnson recently said on “Up & Adams,” via Dov Kleiman.
After being selected in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, he played his entire 13-season NFL career with the Eagles.
The former Cincinnati Bearcats player was named to the Pro Bowl seven times and helped the Eagles to their first Super Bowl victory in February of 2018.
Kelce played 11 full seasons out of the 13 he played, which is a remarkable number for any offensive lineman. To end his storied career, he played nine consecutive full seasons.
That kind of consistency and stability is rarely found at positions that are meant to be physically demanding and brutal.
So, it is not a surprise to hear that Kelce is still hanging around the building and staying in shape while also staying in touch with his former teammates and coaches.
Time will tell if Kelce ends up possibly taking on an official role with the team or not.
