Taylor Swift Fans Say Their ‘Heart Is Hurting’ After Hearing Newly Released Voice Memo
Taylor Swift fans typically enjoy the voice memos she records during her song-writing process. It’s fascinating to hear her process and how tracks change from conception to release. However, her most recent clip had Swifties declaring their “heart is hurting.”
On Saturday, Aug. 3, the pop superstar unveiled a previously unheard voice memo for her Tortured Poets Department track “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys.” The limited-time recording is available for purchase on her website until noon ET on Aug. 4.
One fan took to X to share a snippet of the memo. In it, the 34-year-old explained, “OK, so this is kind of an abnormal structure, but I think it could be really cool this way.”
She added, “It sounds sad because it’s on piano and I’m sad in general, but it’s got to have like a driving synth beat or whatever,” before delving into the song.
In the comments, Swifties reacted to the singer’s state of mind likely when she was fresh off her breakup with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy.
“My heart was hurting hearing her say those words,” one X user commented.
Another wrote, “And then the sniffle before she started singing.”
“That hurt,” another fan wrote simply.
Meanwhile, someone else shared, “But the positive side is she’s in SUCH a better place!”
Shortly after her whirlwind romance with Healy, Swift met and started dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. And as Swifties know all too well, the rest is history.
Taylor Swift is dropping another limited time treat for Swifties.
On Saturday (Aug. 3), the 34-year-old pop star shared on social media that a digital version of her The Tortured Poets Department album will be available with bonus track “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys” (First Draft Phone Memo) for 24 hours only.Swift shared the news on her Instagram Story with a link to her website where fans can purchase the TTPD standard digital album and “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys” (First Draft Phone Memo) for $4.99. The deal is available until 11:59 a.m. ET on Sunday (Aug. 4).
In mid-May, the “Anti-Hero” singer unveiled three limited versions of her latest album, featuring three First Draft Phone Memo of “The Black Dog,” “Cassandra” and “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” The finished versions of the songs already appear on the 31-track anthology version of Tortured Poets, but the new audio notes show listeners what they sounded like midway through Swift’s writing process.
The latest First Draft drop arrives following Tortured Poets‘ hitting 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in mid-July. Swift’s collection surpassed Whitney Houston’s 1987 album, Whitney, to become the only album by a woman to spend its first 12 weeks atop the Billboard 200. It also marked a career-best for Swift, whose 1989 and Fearless releases spent 11 weeks each at No. 1.
The pop superstar is currently in the midst of the European leg of her Eras Tour, which wraps its third show at PGE Narodowy in Warsaw, Poland, on Saturday (Aug. 3). Next up, Swift will travel to Vienna for three back-to-back concerts at Vienna’s Ernst-Happel-Stadion (from Aug. 8-10), followed by five performances at Wembley Stadium in London. After wrapping the European leg, she’ll return to the U.S. and Canada for one final victory lap in November and December
