Watch: Patrick Mahomes became an Exclusive Club member In the Madden Video Games
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes can’t miss these days, as he’s now preparing for a quest to win his third consecutive Super Bowl title.
Off the field, he recently received another honor alongside his most trusted receiver Travis Kelce, via the newest Madden NFL 25 video game.
The NFL shared on their official X account that Mahomes and Kelce each received 99 overall ratings in the new Madden game.
It is Mahomes’ fourth time receiving a 99 overall rating, which ties him with Tom Brady and J.J. Watt.
Newly retired defensive tackle Aaron Donald is fittingly the record holder for 99 ratings, as big No. 99 received the rating seven times, followed by Peyton Manning’s six 99 ratings, and five for Ray Lewis.
If there were ever a year to knock Mahomes down off his 99 rating, it was this one, as in 2023 he put up by far his worst statistical regular season with just 27 touchdowns and a career-high 14 interceptions.
In addition, Kelce had his streak of seven consecutive seasons over 1,000 receiving yards ended, so it’s a bit more surprising to see him get a 99 as well.
The two are joined in the 99 club this year by former Chiefs teammate Tyreek Hill and a pair of San Francisco 49ers: offensive lineman Trent Williams and Madden cover athlete Christian McCaffrey.
At this rate, it feels like only a matter of time until Mahomes catches Donald on the all-time 99 list.
Madden NFL 25 comes out on Aug. 16 and has heightened expectations after the recent successful release of College Football 25.
